This book is dedicated first to my mother,
Leonora V. Carey-Baumgartner, who more than anyone
else has helped inspire me to follow dreams of
being a wordsmith. Without her I could not have
been able to live in Hawaii. Without her I could
not have been able to learn early on the joy of
music, and of making good words. I could never
have found my Writing Voice, my Speaking Voice,
or any other kind of a Voice. Thanks, Mom.
My Mom has never given up on her dream to live
each day in a positive way.
In assembling this book, I have tried to hold
fast to my Mother's Dream, and to my own.
Like you in so many ways, Mom, I want to help
Teachers day by day craft new beginnings towards
better worlds.
This book is also dedicated to the wonderful
students I've been able to work with, and be a
"Mister Dave" to, in this new era of the Y-2-K.
May we all continue making our Music in words.
